Aguadilla (Spanish pronunciation: [aɣwaˈðiʝa], locally [awaˈðiʝa]), founded in 1775 by Luis de Córdova, is a city and municipality located in the northwestern tip of Puerto Rico, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, north of Aguada, and Moca and west of Isabela.
Like all municipalities of Puerto Rico, Aguadilla is subdivided into administrative units called barrios, which are, in contemporary times, roughly comparable to minor civil divisions. [1] The barrios and subbarrios, [ 2 ] in turn, are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores ( sectors in English).
District Courthouse, also known as Museo de Arte de Aguadilla, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, was built in 1925. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, [1] and to the Puerto Rico Register of Historic Sites and Zones in 2000. [2] It was designed by architect Rafael Carmoega. The second story now serves as a museum of art. [3]

In the 2020 general elections Cornier Colón, at the age of 18 year and 33 days of age [3] and being the only candidate of the MVC in Aguadilla, [8] was the recipient of 1,639 votes, becoming the youngest municipal legislator in Puerto Rico. [5] Cornier Colón was one of 25 MVC-affiliated municipal legislators to be elected in November 2020. [9]
