Fairview Township is part of the Mountain Top region of Luzerne County. Most of the township's homes and businesses are located in the western half of the community.
It surrounds the boroughs of Fairview, Petrolia, and Karns City but is separate from them. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 24.2 square miles (62.7 km 2), of which 0.008 square miles (0.02 km 2), or 0.03%, is water. [3]
