The Lena Plateau is located in the southern Sakha Republic, between the Lower Tunguska River in the west and the Amga River in the east. It extends roughly to the north along the left bank of the Lena River for more than 1,000 kilometers (620 mi) with an average width of 200 kilometers (120 mi).
The Lena originates at 1,640 meters (5,381 ft) of elevation in the Baikal Mountains, 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of Lake Baikal, south of the Central Siberian Plateau. The Lena flows north-east and traverses the Lena-Angara Plateau, then is joined by three tributary rivers: (i) the Kirenga, (ii) the Vitim, and (iii) the Olyokma.

The Lena-Angara Plateau rises in the middle part of Irkutsk Oblast, between the Angara River to the west and the Kirenga River, a tributary of the Lena, to the east. To the northwest it is bound by the Angara Range, to the south by the Angara valley, to the southeast by the Primorsky Range, and to the east by the Baikal Range, beyond which lies Lake Baikal.
The village is located in the Lena Plateau, on the left bank of the Peleduy river, 306 kilometers (190 mi) from Lensk, the administrative center of the district. [5]
The river begins in the Byldanyany Lake, a small lake with a surface of 1 square kilometre (0.39 sq mi) located in the Lena Plateau. [3] Its upper course is in the southern part of Khangalassky District close to the A360 Lena Highway, not far from Aldan District. [4]
The Central Yakutian Lowlands extend along the middle basin of the Lena River and partly further downstream and are about 900 kilometres (560 mi) in length and 350 kilometres (220 mi) wide. [6] They drop gradually from the Central Siberian Plateau to the west and the Lena Plateau to the south and southwest.
Nyuya Severnaya is located in the Lena Plateau, 25 kilometers (16 mi) from the district centre Lensk. It lies on the left bank of the Nyuya River, near its confluence with its longest tributary the Ulakhan-Murbayy (Улахан-Мурбайы). [5]
