Greyfriars is the alternate name of a fourteen-story office block built in 1974 in Lewin's Mead in Bristol. It was later used for government offices. [5] The building takes its name from Greyfriars, a medieval Franciscan friary which historically occupied the site. Greyfriars was renovated in 2014 and rebranded as Number One Bristol.
The name Wills Hall reflects the university's connection with the Wills family. The fortune made by their famous tobacco empire, W. D. & H. O. Wills and later Imperial Tobacco, enabled Henry Overton Wills III to fund the university's foundation in 1908 with a pledge of £100,000 and he financed many of its finest buildings, such as the Wills Memorial Building.
The students were therefore sent to Monks Park School for their secondary education. As part of an £80m plan to restore confidence in Bristol schooling, Monks Park was one of four schools in the city to be rebuilt. [3] The new building was opened in 2006. In 2007, the school celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
