    Bannock is like a biscuit cooked over fire and does contain leavening. If it's fried, it's pan bread. If deep fried, it's fry bread. Hard tack is a cracker, always baked and baked again. BTW, don't put salt in hard tack if you expect it to keep. Salt attracts moisture, which leads to mold.

    The first pic is the expanded kit - it is a Stanley "Camp Cook Cup" set, a small generic pocket stove and gas cannister (for when open fire is not optional), and a GSI cup.     If you are cooking for two then of course double this amount. My math: 1) My favorite soup/chili bowl is 2.5 cups in volume almost slap full. That is 2.5C x 2= 5 Cups 2) I cook for me and the wife: 5C x 2= 10 Cups 3) Add 15-25 % extra so that the liquid can boil and not boil over (15%) the top of the container.
