  2. Small Diesel Pickups — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/3573/isuzu/pickup/small...

Small Diesel Pickups. I own a 20-year old small diesel pickup. The original engine is nearing 300,000 miles. Only the head gasket (23 to 1 C/R) has been replaced. Rings, bearings, valves are all original. My point: this engineering (in 1982 yet) jewel turns in 50+ mpg on the highway. I HAVE replaced alternators, radiators, batterines, tires ...

  3. The two compact pick-ups that we both like are the Toyota Tacoma Extend Cab SR5 4x4 V6 or the Dodge Daka extend cab 4x4 4.7L V8. Toyota has the advantage in reliability and probably gas mileage. The Dodge the advantage is style/appearance and interior room.

  4. Small trucks: Which one is the best for light duty?

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/2795/nissan/x/small-trucks...

Enough power (Light hauling duty only. 6-cyl acceptable, 4-cyl will probably do.) Good mileage (20mpg highway minimum. The more, the better.) Low Cost (I'm not going to buy a $30,000 truck. The lower, the Better) High dependablity (Low maininance and long life are good qualities) Good Safty (Crash test scores, tip-over ratings, etc.) I expect a ...

  7. The Unlikely Return of the Compact Pickup | Edmunds

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/45395

My suggestion is to build unibody pick-ups off a smal car platform. A new Nissan hard body built on a Sentra platform for example. @sdiego, a cheapo small pickup would not subtract much from sales of reasonably equipped midsize pickups, it would compete for sales with low end cars. That's what Ed argued in the article.

  8. The 17 Worst Cars You Can Buy — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

The only cars truly worth hating on here are the Avenger, Smart, i-MiEV (Just for the name alone), and the Ford brothers, Taurus and MKS. Knock this list down to 5 cars, and you are righteous! "The number of small trucks on sale has fallen to a mere three choices as the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Dodge Dakota,.."

  10. Why do pickup trucks last longer than cars - Edmunds

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/1987/chevrolet/colorado/why...

Trucks are work vehicles, not style statements. Other than amenities inside the cab, a current 2001-model pickup truck is not functionally much different than a 1950-model truck. Trucks are kept running longer for the simple reason that a shiny new truck isn't much different than an old beat up truck.

  11. Need help choosing the right truck to tow a travel trailer

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/3030/chevrolet/ck-1500...

Well the trailer started fishtailing and the whole rig flipped. I had a very bad weekend about a month ago where I blew two tires at highway speeds on the same trip. The trailer never once tried to step out of line. IMHO, the 1-ton is what made the difference. In high crosswinds and fast moving trucks, the trailer never tries to sway.
