The excuse process may also be completed online by going to the jury website and selecting My Jury Duty Portal, and selecting the MyInfo and then My Summons tabs. I’d suggest you gather all the documents you need before beginning--know the full address, SSN, DL, etc etc. That way you won’t be searching for it all.

It's a civic duty to serve on a jury and people take the fact that we allow trial by jury in this country for granted. In a lot of places they throw you in jail without asking any questions lmao. Also, those who advocate social justice cannot at the same time be avoiding jury duty, especially in criminal cases.
Just to share my experience: I was scheduled for jury duty last week, Stanley Mosk in Downtown LA (Jan 25-29). Not only did I not have to go in, I didn't even have to call in. Every night the jury portal page instructed me not to report in the morning and to check in the evening for the following day.
