The former parish church remains in use by the Parish of All Saints, which was formed in 2018 from the merger of the former parishes of St. Boniface, St. John the Baptist in Fordyce, and St. Joseph in Constance. [3] The church is Gothic Revival and was built using chalk rock in 1886 and 1900–1902.

The first Catholic mission in Texas, then part of the Spanish Empire, was San Francisco de los Tejas. It was founded by Franciscan Father Damián Massanet in 1690 in the Weches area. The priests left the mission after three years, then established a second mission, Nuestro Padre San Francisco de los Tejas . near present-day Alto in 1716.

Founded in 1858, the community was named after its first postmaster, August Koeltze. While not Catholic, Koeltz donated land for a Catholic parish to encourage enough settlers to the area to establish a town around St. Boniface Catholic Church. [2] A post office called Koeltztown has been in operation since 1862. [3]
