The Eighth Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan (Urdu: آئین پاکستان میں آٹھویں ترمیم) allowed the President to unilaterally dissolve the National Assembly and elected governments. The National Assembly of Pakistan amended the Constitution of Pakistan in 1985 and the law stayed on the books until its repeal in 1997.

Choudhri Mohammed Naim (born 3 June 1936) is an American scholar of Urdu language and literature. He is currently professor emeritus at the University of Chicago. Naim is the founding editor of both Annual of Urdu Studies and Mahfil (now Journal of South Asian Literature), as well as the author of the definitive textbook for Urdu pedagogy in English.

Maulvi Nazir Ahmad Dehlvi, also known as Deputy Nazir Ahmad, was an Urdu novel writer, social and religious reformer, and orator. Even today, he is best known for his novels, he wrote over 30 books on subjects such as law, logic, ethics and linguistics. [1] His famous novels are Mirat-ul-Uroos, Tobat-un-Nasuh, and Ibn-ul-waqt.
Khutbat-e-Madras (Urdu: خطباتِ مدراس) is a collection of eight sermons on the life of the Islamic prophet Muhammad by Syed Suleiman Nadvi, first published in 1936. [1] Nadvi prepared the material for a non- Arab , non- Muslim audience.
Anwaar Ahmad obtained his early education from the Muslim Boys High School in Multan, Pakistan. He earned his Masters (Urdu) degree from Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan in 1969. He then went on to obtain his PhD from Bahauddin Zakariya University in 1985. His dissertation was titled Urdu Short Story in its Socio-Political Perspective. [4]
