Schererville (/ ˈ ʃ ɛ r ər v ɪ l / SHERR-ər-vil, locally / ˈ ʃ ɛər v ɪ l / SHAIR-vil) is a town in St. John Township, Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,646 at the 2020 census [ 7 ] It is a suburb of Chicago , located 30 miles south of the city.
The township includes the towns of Dyer, Schererville and St. John as well as the unincorporated areas of these towns. [7] Zip codes in the township include 46307, 46311, 46319, 46373, and 46375. The State House districts are IN-11 and IN-15, and the State Senate districts are IN-1, IN-6, and a small portion of IN-2. [8]
US 30's concurrency with I-69 is a six-lane urban Interstate with interchanges at Lima Road (US 27 and SR 3) and Coldwater Road (formerly SR 327 and, prior to that, US 27). At the interchange of I-69 and I-469 , US 30 heads east concurrent with I-469 to loop around the north and east sides of Fort Wayne, heading toward New Haven .
The road passes through the bedroom communities of St. John, Schererville, and Highland. Entering the urban core of Northwest Indiana, the route goes through Hammond, briefly overlapping I-80/I-94/US 6. In Whiting, the highway joins US 12/US 20 before exiting Indiana and entering Illinois in Chicago.
