Johnson County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 5,290. [1] Its county seat is Tecumseh. [2] The county was formed in 1855, and was organized in 1857. [3] [4] [5] It was named after Richard Mentor Johnson, who was Vice President of the United States from 1837 to 1841. [6]
In 1955, the Nebraska Legislature passed a law requiring all incorporated communities with a population over 100 to be included in the state highway system. The original numbering system required placing a single digit in front of the highway number it was connecting with.
The lake was so popular that access was limited by the park's rangers to keep the boat traffic down on the lake on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The lake's marina, snack bar, swimming area and boat ramps were all removed, and restrictions were placed on boat operation.
