The Nachenum Lodge #145 of the Order of the Arrow served Mound Builders Area Council, forming in 1939. Upon the merger with Dan Beard Council in 1985, the Ku-Ni-Eh Lodge #462 merged with Nachenum, forming Ku-Ni-Eh Lodge #145 (keeping the existing Dan Beard Council name but choosing to use the lower lodge # of the former Nachenum Lodge).
Beard first promoted the program in his column in Recreation Magazine starting in March 1905. He then moved over to Woman's Home Companion (WHC) in April 1906. When he left that magazine in 1909 and moved to Pictorial Review , he was forced to rename the program Boy Pioneers of America because WHC felt they owned the name.
In 1990, the Miami Valley Council and the Dan Beard Council in Cincinnati completed the construction of a new dining hall. This was the last major joint venture between the organizations, as the Dan Beard Council received a large monetary gift and re-opened Camp Friedlander later in the decade.
