The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade (MIT) is a government ministry of Namibia, with headquarters in Windhoek.It was created at Namibian independence in 1990 as Ministry of Trade and Industry, [1] renamed Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development in 2015, and got its current name in 2020.
Carl-Hermann Gustav "Calle" Schlettwein (born 13 June 1954) is a Namibian politician who has served in the country's cabinet since 2012. In March 2020, he was appointed the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform after serving as the Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2020 and previously as the Minister of Trade and Industry from 2012 to 2015.
Tweya joined SWAPO in 1975. In 1985, Tweya helped to found, and was chairperson of, the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO). He was the first chairman of the Namibia National Teachers Union (NANTU) between 1989 and 1991, and president of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW), which is one of the national trade union centers of Namibia, between 1991 and 1993.

After a Cabinet reshuffle in February 2018 she swapped positions with Piet van der Walt and became Deputy Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development. [2] In March 2020 she was promoted to minister. [3] Iipumbu is a member both of SWAPO's central committee and its politburo. [3]
In 1993, Namibia became a signatory of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and the Minister of Trade and Industry represented Namibia at the Marrakech signing of the Uruguay Round Agreement in April 1994. Namibia also is a member of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
