This was the first newspaper of Pakistan that came in a colored form. He suffered many hardships and was put behind the bars due to some clashes with the government for some time. The newspaper was then handed over to Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami. Prior to taking over Daily Pakistan, he was Editor-in-Chief of the Weekly Zindagi, Lahore.

Daily Mashriq was founded in 1963 by Inayat Ullah Khan. [3] Its name translates to 'East' in Urdu. [1]In 1964, the newspaper was nationalized by the military regime of Ayub Khan and subsequently, it became part of the National Press Trust (NPT), which was established to manage nationalized independent newspapers in order to deter free media.
