Benjamin F. Van Alstyne (1893 – August 1972) [1] was an American basketball coach. The Canajoharie, New York native played college basketball, baseball and football at Colgate University , graduating in 1917.

T. H. Williams, principal from 1961–1968, came to the district in 1936 as a math instructor and coach in the old Plano High School (now the Cox Building). He was head coach from 1943 to 1953, leading his teams to several district and state titles. A new Plano High School was built on 17th street in 1961 at a cost of $993,590.

Van Alstyne is a city in Grayson and Collin Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 3,046 at the 2010 census , [ 5 ] up from 2,502 at the 2000 census. The Grayson County portion of Van Alstyne is part of the Sherman – Denison Metropolitan Statistical Area .
