The university is governed by a council, chaired by the pro-chancellor.The council consists of the Pro-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific, a member of the university Senate, staff and student representatives, up to six members appointed by the O le Ao o le Malo, and up to four additional members co-opted by the council. Tuifuisaʻa Patila Malua Amosa is a Samoan oceanographer. She is Dean of Sciences at the National University of Samoa. [1]Amosa was educated at Flinders University in Australia and the University of Otago in New Zealand, [2] graduating with an MSc in Environmental Science in 2007 and a PhD in Chemistry in 2015. [3]
Maulolo was the first person to graduate with a Master's degree from the Amosa o Savavau (Indigenous University of Samoa). [1] He later worked as Head of Samoan Studies at the National University of Samoa , [ 2 ] as the Director of Internal Affairs, and as a lecturer at the Amosa o Savavau in American Samoa . [ 1 ]
In 2014 he helped develop the curriculum for the National University of Samoa's new school of medicine, and in 2018 he was appointed its founding professor. [4] In October 2019 following the resignation of Fui Asofou So'o he was appointed vice-chancellor. [2] [3] [8] In July 2021, he was reappointed a University of Otago Honorary Professor. [9]
