The 2.55 km 2 resort is reached via a short causeway over a creek and is located 5 km north west of the town Nadi and 10 km west of Nadi International Airport.
The resort, rated 4½ stars, boasts 321 rooms, 37 villas, 40 suites, a presidential suite, parking facilities, a fitness and wellness center, four restaurants, a café, a children's pool, and rooms with terraces. The visionary architect Yansong Ma conceived the design, which was brought to life by the Shanghai Feizhou Group.
The hotel opened on October 16, 1972 [5] as the Four Seasons Sheraton Hotel, a joint venture between Sheraton and Toronto businessman Issy Sharp's Four Seasons chain. [6] At the time, it was the second-largest hotel in Toronto, behind only the Royal York Hotel .
In 1959, Matson sold their hotels to Sheraton Hotels. [2] Sheraton added a second wing to the successful Princess Kaiulani Hotel in 1960, the 210-room Diamond Head Wing. [3] The hotel was sold to Kyo-Ya Company Limited in July 1963, [4] though Sheraton continued to operate it. Kyo-Ya added a third wing, the 29-story Ainahau Tower, in 1970.
