He has been described as one of the most significant literary figures of the 20th century and one of the greatest poets in the Portuguese language.
The Pessoa Prize ( Portuguese: Prémio Pessoa, Portuguese pronunciation: [ˌpɾɛmju pɨˈsoɐ] ), named after Fernando Pessoa, is recognized as the most important award in the area of Portuguese culture.
