In Belize's 2003 General Elections, 29 constituencies voted in their Area Representatives for Belize's House of Representatives. Since then it was noted that the difference in voting populations between the most and least populous constituencies was rather large (Cayo South then had 8,000 voters compared to Pickstock's 1000+).
This Act became part of the Belize Constitution in 1981. The commission maintains a database of Belizean voters and periodically informs the nation on the state of the voter's list. It also occasionally makes proposals to revise boundaries in order to maintain near equality in voting divisions. There are currently 31 electoral divisions in Belize.

Albert, often referred to locally as Albert Division, is located entirely within the boundaries of Belize City, and is one of 10 constituencies in the Belize District that fall within its city limits. Albert is considered the downtown area of Belize City and is located on the eastern part of the city's southside.
The Corozal Bay constituency was one of 10 new seats created for the 1984 general election. By far the smallest of the four constituencies in the Corozal District geographically, Corozal Bay consists of most of the district's capital, Corozal Town .
The Belize Rural Central constituency was created for the 1993 general election by a split of the existing Belize Rural South constituency. Out of the 13 Belize District constituencies it is one of three located outside the Belize City limits, consisting of the southern half of the Belize District mainland.
