The Hungarian alphabet (Hungarian: magyar ábécé, pronounced [ˈmɒɟɒr ˈaːbeːt͡seː]) is an extension of the Latin alphabet used for writing the Hungarian language. The alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet , with several added variations of letters, consisting 44 letters.
Most of the major languages belonging to language branches and groups in Europe, and western and southern Asia, belong to the Indo-European language family. This is thus the biggest language family in the world by number of mother tongue speakers (but not by number of languages: by this measure it is only the 3rd or 5th biggest).
These letters are not part of the Hungarian language and are considered misprints. Hungarian can be properly represented with the Latin-2 / ISO-8859-2 code page, but this code page is not always available. (Hungarian is the only language using both ő and ű .) Unicode includes them, and so they can be used on the Internet.
