[1]25 January – The Dacian-era Helmet of Coțofenești, on loan from the National History Museum of Romania, is stolen along with three other gold artifacts from the Drents Museum in Assen, the Netherlands by thieves who break into the museum using explosives.

The 2025 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualification is a men's under-19 national football team competition that will determine the seven teams joining the automatically qualified hosts Romania in the 2025 UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament. Players born on or after 1 January 2006 are eligible to participate.
The 2025 UEFA European Under-19 Championship will be the 22nd edition of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship (72nd edition if the Under-18 and Junior era is also included), the annual international youth football championship organised by UEFA for the men's under-19 national teams of Europe.
