If a helicopter experiences a crosswind, the transverse flow effect will result in a pitching up or down instead of a roll. At higher airspeeds, more and more of the rotor disc will be in clean air and the lift differential will decrease, however transverse flow effect will be experienced to some extent across the whole flight envelope.
Coning is a phenomenon which affects helicopter rotor discs. The tips of the helicopter rotor blades move faster through the air than the parts of the blades near the hub, so they generate more lift, which pushes the tips of the blades upwards, resulting in a slight cone shape to the rotor disc. This is balanced by centrifugal force.
