Southgate is a village in the community of Pennard on the Gower Peninsula, Swansea, Wales. It is also a community electoral ward for Pennard Community Council. The population in 2011 was 2,004, [ 1 ] making up most of the population of the community.

Pennard (previously Llanarthbodu) [1] is a village and community on the south of the Gower Peninsula, about 7 miles south-west of Swansea city centre. It falls within the Pennard electoral ward of Swansea. The Pennard community includes the larger settlements of Southgate and Kittle. the population as of 2011 was 2,688. [2]
Pennard (Welsh: Llanarthbodu) [1] is on the south of the peninsula, about 7 miles south west of Swansea city centre. It falls within the Pennard ward of Swansea. It has a church, health centre, library, a primary school and a golf course. It contains the ruins of Pennard Castle.
It was then merged with the county borough of Swansea. From 1974 to 1996, it formed the Swansea district. [1] Since 1996, Gower has been administered as part of the unitary authority of the City and County of Swansea. Since its establishment in 1999, the Gower Senedd constituency has only elected Labour members.
South Gate High School opened in January 1930. It was in the Los Angeles City High School District until 1961, when it merged into LAUSD. [3]Between 1993 and 1996 the number of students that passed Advanced Placement tests in government and macroeconomics subjects increased from 5% to 70%.
Ashmole Academy (formerly Ashmole School) is a comprehensive secondary school with academy status in Southgate in the London Borough of Barnet. Under the direction of the headteacher Balbinder Dhinsa, around 1,800 pupils (550 in the sixth form ) are educated in ages 11–18.
