Sliedrecht (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈslidrɛxt] ⓘ) is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of 14.01 km 2 (5.41 sq mi) of which 1.17 km 2 (0.45 sq mi) is covered by water.
Sliedrecht was a Dutch tanker (5133 tonnes) that was sunk on 16 November 1939 by the German submarine U-28. The Dutch government [ 1 ] and English newspapers were critical of the Germans for sinking a neutral vessel en route to a neutral port in bad weather and making no provisions for the survivors. [ 2 ]

Sliedrecht is a railway station in Sliedrecht, Netherlands. The station is located on the MerwedeLingelijn line between Dordrecht and Geldermalsen, part of the Betuwelijn . Train services
The station opened on 16 July 1885, but was closed on 15 May 1938. The station was reopened on 11 December 2011. [1] The station lies on the MerwedeLingelijn (Dordrecht – Geldermalsen) and is located between Dordrecht Stadspolders and Sliedrecht.
Sliedrecht Sport is a Dutch volleyball club based in Sliedrecht.It has professional and amateur teams (men, women, youth and beach volleyball) with the women's team being the most successful, having won the national league, cup and supercup multiple times, and currently playing in the Eredivisie Dames, the highest level in the Netherlands. Naaldwijk is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland.. The municipality only existed from April 1, 1817, to August 23, 1818. Before and after that time, the area was part of Sliedrecht.
