School District 60 was the first district in British Columbia to institute a laptop computer program on a large scale (grade 6 and 7). Currently the program provides an iPad to each student in grade 6. SD60 is well known for partnerships with community, industry, post-secondary, neighbouring districts, and businesses.
It was formed on March 4, 1946, with the consolidation of Pueblo School District 1 and Pueblo School District 20 to form Pueblo School District 60. It was known as Pueblo City Schools from 2006 until it reverted to its original name in August 2019. [3]

This building served for over fifty years until a new campus was built further north at Mountview Drive and Baltimore Avenue in 1973. The new campus featured a large gymnasium, an indoor natatorium with balcony seating, and District 60's only planetarium. The old campus was torn down is now the site of a District 60 administration building.
In 2021, MSAD/RSU #60 launched Noble Virtual Middle School in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was introduced as a possible initiation for a project-based K-12 virtual school system in the district. NVMS launched with 60 students in grades 6-8 and 5 staff members to lead the program.
