A month later, Motorola unveiled the Droid, Verizon Wireless's first Android phone, which was released on November 8, 2009. Backed with a marketing campaign by Verizon, which promoted the device as a direct competitor to the iPhone with the slogan "iDon't," "Droid Does," the Droid was a significant success for Motorola and Verizon.
Motorola released the Droid X on July 15, 2010, at an initial price of US$569, or $199 with a two-year contract commitment. [2] [3] The smartphone was only available to Verizon Wireless customers in the United States and to Iusacell customers in Mexico, where it was released as Motoroi X on November 9, 2010.
