The Tivoli firehouse, today the village hall. General de Peyster was known as the largest developer in the village of Tivoli, New York, where he resided at his family home. [9] In 1892 he replaced a wooden Methodist church with a brick structure that stands today. [9] He also refurbished an old school into an industrial school for girls. [9]
For several years, the new owners ran a restaurant on the first floor and rented out rooms on the upper floors. In 2013, the painters Brice and Helen Marden, who own the Rose Hill estate in Tivoli, bought the property and remodeled it, renaming it the Hotel Tivoli, opening a restaurant called "The Corner" on the first floor.
