Alcatrazz is a heavy metal band formed in 1983 by Graham Bonnet, Jimmy Waldo, and Gary Shea.They are best known for their songs "Island in the Sun", "Hiroshima Mon Amour", and "God Blessed Video".
Graham Bonnet had been the lead vocalist for the British rock band Rainbow between 1979 and 1980, recording one studio album, Down to Earth. After leaving the band and whilst staying in New York , Bonnet's then manager David Oddie gave him a tape of "Night Games".
Although Stigwood signed only Bonnet and Gordon, drummer Steve Hardy from the Blue Sect/the Graham Bonnet Set, continued to work with them. Hardy's vocal work was on the song "By the Light of the Burning Candle" (with vocals by Gordon originally, later, the song was reworked in July 1968 with Bonnet on vocals). [4]
Born Innocent features performances by founding band members Graham Bonnet on lead vocals, Jimmy Waldo on keyboards, and Gary Shea on bass guitar. It also features the first Alcatrazz studio album appearances of drummer Mark Benquechea, who had previously appeared on the 2018 album Meanwhile, Back in the Garage by the Graham Bonnet Band, and guitarist Joe Stump, a Berklee Professor of Guitar.
Line-Up is the third album released by English singer, Graham Bonnet, formerly of Rainbow. The album made extensive use of backing musicians and writers who, at the time, belonged to the bands Whitesnake and Status Quo .
Producer Glover ended up playing bass on the album and provided lyrics for all songs. While auditions for the new singer proceeded, Glover tracked down ex-Marbles singer Graham Bonnet, who auditioned in France and was immediately hired. [5] During song composition, Bonnet composed his vocal melodies though his contributions remained uncredited. [9]
