Charlotte (/ ʃ ɑːr ˈ l ɒ t / shar-LOT) is a city and county seat of Eaton County, Michigan.As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,074. [5]Charlotte is in the central portion of the county on the boundary between Eaton Township and Carmel Township but is politically independent of both.

Charlotte was first platted in 1838. The population steadily grew, and it was incorporated as a village in 1863. [3] A few of the earliest structures in the district date to this time, notably the county building at 115 W. Lawrence, constructed c. 1841. A handful of Greek Revival houses also date from the middle of the 19th century. [2]

M-50 is a state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan.Although designated as an east–west highway, it is nearly a diagonal northwest–southeast route. The western terminus is at exit 52 along Interstate 96 (I-96) near Alto a few miles east of the metro Grand Rapids area, and its eastern terminus is in downtown Monroe at US Highway 24 (US 24, Telegraph Road).
It is Eaton County's newest park, being established in 2017. Crandell Lake (located within the park) is Eaton County's largest lake at 160 acres (0.25 sq mi) in size. [1] Crandell Park was established in 2017, after Eaton County purchased the land for US$3.9 million in 2016 from a local resident named Randy Crandell.
Bellevue was also the first town founded in Eaton County and the original Eaton County seat and location of the county court house until Charlotte's founding. The west side of town is home to a large limestone bed, which has been continually mined for over a century and was used to help build the Michigan State Capitol .
