Clifton is the largest city in Bosque County, Texas, United States.The city's population was 3,465 at the 2020 census. [4] Clifton and the surrounding area was settled by Norwegian settlers in the mid 1800s.
On June 11, 1945, FM 167 was designated from Cleburne to the Hill–Johnson county line, and from the Hill–Bosque county line in Morgan to Meridian, but SH 353 was not cancelled. On August 23, 1945, FM 167 was extended from the Hill–Johnson county line to the Hill–Bosque county line in Morgan, closing the gap.
It is part of the Meridian Independent School District located in central Bosque County. During 2022–2023, Meridian High School had an enrollment of 187 students and a student to teacher ratio of 7.26.
