Georgetown is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 8,470 at the 2020 census . [ 1 ] It was incorporated in 1838 from part of Rowley .
The band was formed by vocalist and guitarist Anthony DiDio and drummer Matt Wood, who are also members of Vein.fm.They were joined by bassist Jeremy Martin also of Vein.fm, and lead vocalist Marisa Shirar.

Danoff has stated he had never been in West Virginia before co-writing the song, having written it in a house in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. He had even briefly considered using "Massachusetts" rather than "West Virginia", as both four-syllable state names would have fit the song's meter.
