The Mazari (Arabic: المزاريع) (singular Mazrouei or Mazrui) is an Arab tribe of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). [1] The Mazari settled throughout the Trucial States but principally in Abu Dhabi. They are considered a subsection of the Bani Yas [1] and formed the majority of the Bedouin component of that federation of tribes. [2]
One of the most important tribes in the emirate of Abu Dhabi (together with the Bani Yas, with whom they cooperated and coexisted closely), [2] the tribe was traditionally predominant in the desert areas between Buraimi and Qatar and the Persian Gulf coast to Liwa, but Manasir families had settled Abu Dhabi, Buraimi, Al Khan and Jumeirah by the turn of the 20th century. Al Qubaisi (Al Qubaisiat) (Arabic: القبيسي (القبيسات)) is a sub-tribe of Bani Yas, of Abu Dhabi, closely associated with the Bani Yas of Abu Dhabi. The Al Qubaisi family share close relations with the leading royal family of the United Arab Emirates through Salama bint Butti Al-Qubaisi mother of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan the founder of the UAE.
The tribal coalition, consisting of tribes from Dubai to Khor Al Adaid in southeast Qatar, was called the Bani Yas Coalition (Arabic: حلف بني ياس). [3] The Al Nahyan, a branch of the Al Bu Falasah, leads the tribe and is the ruling family of Abu Dhabi.
