The Clark Thread Company Historic District, located at 900 Passaic Avenue, East Newark, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, is a large mill complex. Begun in 1875, it was a major manufacturing site of the Clark Thread Company , the world's leading manufacturer of sewing thread, until 1935.
The museum features the Brooke Shannon Antique Sewing Machine Room, which is a room which features replica sewing machines from the factory in the late-19th century. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Other exhibits include a re-creation of the manager's office, a replica of the boarding houses in the 1880s. [ 6 ]
The William Clark Company Thread Mill is located south of the village center of Pawcatuck, overlooking the Pawcatuck River between Pawcatuck Avenue and River Road south of Clark Street.
