Ezekiel Odero, popularly known as Pastor Ezekiel, is a Kenyan televangelist [1] and the head of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church based in Kilifi County. [2] He was born in 1972 on Ngodhe Island 10 km off west of Rusinga Island in the Lake Victoria of Homa Bay County Kenya.
A second pastor, also based in Malindi, was arrested a few days after the Mackenzie starvation incident occurred. Authorities said Ezekiel Odero, pastor of New Life Prayer Centre and Church in Mavueni, Kilifi County, would soon face criminal charges relating to the mass killing of his own followers. [82]
Stephen "Steve" Arterburn from Ranger, Texas [3] is the founder and chairman of New Life Ministries and host of the syndicated Christian counseling talk show New Life Live! available on XM and Sirius Satellite radio and on NRB Network. Arterburn is also the host of New Life TV, [4] a web-based Christian ministry.
New Life Church was founded in 1984 by Ted Haggard. [1] The church started under his leadership as an independent church meeting in his home. From these origins, the church grew through a succession of larger meeting spaces including strip mall office space and other non-traditional church locations.

The church was founded in 1973 by Pastor David Mohan. [1] In 1999, the church added a service in English, led by Pastor Chadwick Mohan, the son of Pastor David. [2] In 2004, attendance reached 30,000 people. [3] In 2011, it hosted the International Congress of the Assemblies of God. [4]
