The M139 is a turbocharged straight-four engine produced by Mercedes-Benz.It is the successor of the M133 engine.It is also the first four-cylinder engine by AMG to be specified with two outputs, assembled by hand using "one man, one engine" philosophy, and equipped with combined a port and direct fuel injection system.
Both engines are based upon the outgoing M270 and the M274 respectively. Like the M270 and the M274, the M260 refers to the transverse configuration (for front-wheel drive models) while the M264 refers to the longitudinally mounted engine (for rear-wheel drive models). [1]

The MCT transmission is essentially the 9G-Tronic with a start-off wet clutch (NAK for German Nass-Anfahrkupplung) replacing the torque converter. This saves weight and optimises the response to the accelerator pedal input.
