AirTrain is a fully automated people mover at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) that opened on February 24, 2003. Its original name, Dulles International Airport, was changed in 1984 to Washington Dulles International Airport. [ 24 ] The main terminal was designed in 1958 by famed Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, and it is highly regarded for its graceful beauty, suggestive of flight.
The airport is located on U.S. Route 101, 13 miles (21 km) south of downtown San Francisco. It is near the US 101 interchange with Interstate 380, a short freeway that connects US 101 with Interstate 280. Short term parking is located in the central terminal area and two international terminal garages.
