The West Chester Transportation Center is a bus terminal and parking garage in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The $1,250,000 transportation center, upon which construction began in October 2004, was opened in December 2005. It is located on Market Street across from the Chester County Justice Center.
In the 1920s, the current routing of US 322 Bus. was designated PA 5 heading northwest of West Chester and US 122/PA 29 (later US 202) along High Street. [ 6 ] [ 7 ] [ 8 ] In the 1930s, US 322 was designated to run through the borough along Hannum Avenue, Gay Street, and High Street, replacing PA 5 and running concurrent with US 202. [ 9 ]
US 322 Bus. was signed as US 322 until 1981, when the Mount Nittany Expressway, a freeway bypass of US 322, was built north of State College. [2] [3]US 322 Bus. now serves as the main east–west thoroughfare in State College, and the section in State College is named Atherton Street in honor of George W. Atherton, former president of the Pennsylvania State University.
