The school operated until 1993. A new facility was constructed on the property and opened in 2002 as the Chester County campus of the Delaware County Community College. The borough has initiated some widespread and continuing renovation in downtown, particularly to the streetscape; private owners have similarly renovated many commercial buildings.
The Downingtown Industrial and Agricultural School (DIAS) was a school for African American students located in Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania, from 1905 until 1993. [3] Its motto was "self help through self work". [4] It was located in what is now East Brandywine Township. [5] [6]

The West Campus is located on the original high school's campus within Downingtown Borough. A portion of the campus is in Caln Township. [2] [3] [4] The East Campus is actually located in Uwchlan Township. [5] It has an Exton postal address and is adjacent to, but not within, the Lionville census-designated place. [6] [7]
The township is situated within the Downingtown Area School District. [8] Brandywine-Wallace Elementary School is in the township. [9] Most of the township is zoned to Brandywine-Wallace Elementary, while parts are zoned to Beaver Creek Elementary School and Springton Manor Elementary School. [10]
