The lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO 4 battery) or LFP battery (lithium ferrophosphate) is a type of lithium-ion battery using lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4) as the cathode material, and a graphitic carbon electrode with a metallic backing as the anode.
The University of Texas at Austin (UT) patented the materials with the crystalline structure of LiFePo4 and their use in batteries. Hydro-Québec, Université de Montréal and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) own patents, that claim improvements of the original LiFePo4 by carbon coating that enhance its conductivity. Under certain conditions, some battery chemistries are at risk of thermal runaway, leading to cell rupture or combustion. As thermal runaway is determined not only by cell chemistry but also cell size, cell design and charge, only the worst-case values are reflected here.
The SSA explained that at least 40 credits (equivalent to 10 years of work) are needed for anyone born in 1929 or later to qualify for retirement benefits.
Several different combinations of electrode materials and electrolytes are used, including lead–acid, zinc–air, nickel–cadmium (NiCd), nickel–metal hydride (NiMH), lithium-ion (Li-ion), lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), and lithium-ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).
Microsoft unveiled Majorana 1, a quantum chip the company says is powered by a new state of matter. The new chip allows for more stable, scalable, and simplified quantum computing, the company says.
