    I would not make this a hard and fast rule, however. Twenty words seems inadequate to describe charts, maps and the like. However alt text should be concise. Yes, the detail in alt text should depend on the context of the image. "Portrait of Napoleon" would be a good alt text in the Amazing Race example.
