Jimmy Ray Johnson (February 4, 1943 – September 5, 2019) was an American session guitarist and record producer. [1]Johnson was a member of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section who was attached to FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, for a period in the 1960s.
Muscle Shoals Sound Studio is an American recording studio in Sheffield, Alabama, formed in 1969 by four session musicians known as The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. [2] They had left nearby FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals to create their own recording facility. They attracted noted artists from across the United States and Great Britain.

The album was produced by Don Tweedy and recorded at Muscle Shoals. [1] Wilkin's original songs, as well as the artwork on the album, were inspired by his own life: Pictures inside the jacket show Wilkin looking at photographs of his mother, Marijohn, while the songs discuss his path from childhood to his teenage years in Nashville to adulthood in Los Angeles.
