US Highway 131 (US 131) is a north–south United States Highway, of which all but 0.64 of its 269.96 miles (1.03 of 434.46 km) are within the state of Michigan. The highway starts in rural Indiana south of the state line as a state road connection to the Indiana Toll Road .

M-57 is an east–west state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan. The 105.377-mile (169.588 km) highway connects US Highway 131 (US 131) near Rockford on the west end to M-15 near Otisville in the Lower Peninsula. In between, the mostly rural highway passes through farmland and connects several highways and smaller towns together.
The route was established in the 1920s, when it connected State Bridge to its current terminus at US 40. The route was then paved from its north end to Yampa by 1946. SH 11 (now moved) was deleted by 1954, giving the section from Wolcott to State Bridge to SH 131. The entire route was paved by 1970. SH 131 was then extended to I-70 in 1972. [2]
US 131/M-43 intersects the northern end of Business US 131 (Bus. US 131) at a partial interchange; southbound freeway traffic can exit to the business route, and traffic from Bus. US 131 can only enter northbound US 131/M-43. Further north, the freeway enters Allegan County, and at Plainwell, M-43 departs US 131 to follow M-89 southeasterly.
