The 2024–25 Liga Portugal (also known as Liga Portugal Betclic [1] for sponsorship reasons) is the 91st season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs and the fourth season under the current Liga Portugal title. This was the sixth Primeira Liga season to use video assistant referee (VAR).
It was founded in 1978 as Liga Portuguesa dos Clubes de Futebol Profissional and works as an autonomous organism under the authority of the Portuguese Football Federation. In 1991, it changed its name to Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Professional and in the year 2020, changed the name into the current one.
This feat has only been achieved by Porto (furthermore twice) in the 1987–88 season, when it won the European Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Primeira Liga and Taça de Portugal, and in the 2010–11 season when it won the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, Primeira Liga, UEFA Europa League and Taça de Portugal. The winner of each district league is promoted to the fourth national tier, the Campeonato de Portugal.
