Small finance banks (SFB) are a type of niche banks in India.Banks with a SFB license can provide basic banking service of acceptance of deposits and lending.The aim behind these is to provide financial inclusion to sections of the economy not being served by other banks, such as small business units, small and marginal farmers, micro and small industries and unorganised sector entities.
This is a list of banks which are considered to be Scheduled Banks under the second schedule of RBI Act, 1934. [1] [2]At end-March 2024, India's commercial banking sector consisted of 12 public sector banks (PSBs), 21 private sector banks (PVBs), 45 foreign banks (FBs), 12 SFBs, 6 PBs, 43 RRBs, and 2 LABs.

To further the objective of financial inclusion, the RBI granted approval in 2016 to ten entities to set up small finance banks. Since then, all ten have received the necessary licenses.
