Today Ballito is a thriving community of its own with ties to primary and high schools in and around Ballito, uMhlanga, KwaDukuza (Stanger) and oThongathi (Tongaat). Ballito has grown exponentially in recent times and has three shopping malls, The Lifestyle Centre, Odyssey, and Ballito Junction.

KwaDukuza, previously known as Stanger, is a town in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.In 2006, the municipal name was changed to KwaDukuza (which incorporates towns such as Stanger, Ballito and Shakaskraal), but the Zulu people in the area called it "Dukuza" well before then.

The coastal region is governed by the KwaDukuza Local Municipality, forming part of the iLembe District Municipality. Affectionately named the “Dolphin Coast”, its main towns are Ballito, Salt Rock and KwaDukuza. As of 2011 the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast has a population of 231,187 (KwaDukuza Local Municipality). [1]
