Hiwassee College was a private college in Madisonville, Tennessee. Founded in 1849, the college offered associate degrees as well as bachelor's degrees. The majority of its associate degree graduates went on to complete bachelor's degrees elsewhere. The college closed on May 10, 2019, due to financial issues. [1]

The Monroe County Courthouse in Madisonville, Tennessee was built in 1897. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. [1] It is a red brick building with white trim and a hipped roof. [2] It was designed by architect Bauman Brothers and Co.; the building contractor was Gaylon Seldon Co. [2]
