Before the place was incorporated to Quezon City in 1948, Novaliches was already in the maps as early as 1864, having been organized by the Spanish as early as 1855, from the haciendas of Tala, Malinta, Piedad, and Maysilo. By 1856, it was its own municipality before being absorbed by Caloocan in 1901.
Since the 1960s, there were several attempts to reconstitute Novaliches as a separate municipality, but all of which were unsuccessful. [4] On February 23, 1998, President Fidel V. Ramos signed Republic Act No. 8535, which would make Novaliches into its own city. 15 barangays were to be taken out from Quezon City to form the proposed new city. [9]
Quezon City's 2nd congressional district is one of the six congressional districts of the Philippines in Quezon City.
