The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (Iowa DNR or IA DNR) is a department/agency of the U.S. state of Iowa formed in 1986, charged with maintaining state parks and forests, protecting the environment of Iowa, and managing energy, fish, wildlife, land resources, and water resources of Iowa.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service divides Iowa into 23 soil regions. In general, soils of southern, eastern, and western Iowa are loess-derived, while soils of northern and central Iowa are till-derived. Most level areas of Iowa have soils highly suitable for agriculture, making Iowa one of the most productive farming regions of the world.

Okamanpeedan Lake is a roughly 2,300-acre (9.3 km 2) riverine lake located on the East Fork of the Des Moines River. It has an average depth of about four to six feet (1.2 to 1.8 m).
The Sherman Nursery Company Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Charles City, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. [1] The district includes a two-story stone building that was built in 1902 and three stone bridges. [2]

The Iowa Arboretum & Gardens is a nonprofit Arboretum located in Madrid, Iowa that encompasses 160 acres (65 ha). [1] The Iowa State Horticultural Society decided in 1966 on its 100th anniversary to start an Arboretum to serve all of Iowa. A 40-acre parcel of land was purchased in 1968. The deed for the land was paid off in 1972.
