Shehzad Ahmed [1] (Urdu: شہزاد احمد 16 April 1932 – 2 August 2012; sometimes spelled Shahzad Ahmad), was a Pakistani Urdu poet, writer and director of Majlis-e-Taraqqi-e-Adab, an old-book library of Pakistan. Shehzad's poetry collection comprises about thirty books and several other publications on psychology.

Shamim Karhani was born in a 'Zamindar' family to Syed Muhammad Akhtar and Ummat ul Zehra on 8 June 1913 in village 'Karhan' district Mau, UP in India. His real name was 'Syed Shamsuddin Haider', yet he adopted 'Shamim Karhani' as his pen name ('Takhallus'), following the tradition among Urdu poets to append a place's name as a suffix.
He adopted Qateel Shifai as his pen name in 1938, under which he was known in the world of Urdu poetry. "Qateel" was his "takhallus" and "Shifai" was in honour of his ustaad (teacher) Hakeem Mohammed Yahya Shifa Khanpuri, whom he considered his mentor. [5] Due to his father's death in 1935, Qateel was forced to quit his higher education.
