As for variety shows, none of their subtitled shows are the "staples" of the Korean variety show circuit. Most popular Korean variety shows are probably Runningman, 1 Night 2 Days (1N2D), Knowing Bros (Ask Anything), Master in the House, Return of Superman, etc. Viki, Kocowa, Netflix are probably the more popular platforms.
TLDR: My wife's parents are middle-aged Korean immigrants and desperately want access to typical Korean Television shows. They got ripped off and purchased a sketchy device that is supposed to give them access to Korean television but it spends 75% of the time lagging.
